Calibration is the comparison of measurement values indicated by temperature sensor or indicator under test with those of a calibration standard of known accuracy. Calibration allows you to check the temperature characteristics indicated by the temperature sensor or indicator you are using.
Note that calibration activities clarify the current status of the temperature sensor or indicator, however it does not include work that changes the current status, such as adjustments or repairs.
