In general, unexpected chemical reactions and dissociations occur repeatedly even in a high-temperature range of 1200℃ or higher or at low temperatures in various types of furnace gases, vacuums, and reducing gases, producing unstable compounds. On the other hand, it is known that even inside a thermocouple, a gas-phase reaction occurs due to contact reactions between protective tubes, insulation tubes, and thermocouple wire, or evaporation of component elements, causing the thermocouple to deteriorate.
These phenomena are significantly accelerated by the presence of impurities such as trace oxygen, moisture, and contamination inside the protective tube. Therefore, in the case of high-temperature thermocouples, selection of the appropriate material for the temperature measurement conditions and strict quality control determine the performance and life of the thermocouple.
